Dorothy Selma (Burleson) Shope

Dorothy Burleson Shope, 75, of Asheville, NC, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 20, 2022.

 She was born November 28, 1946, in Asheville, to Landon Odell Burleson and Lola Belle Burleson. Dorothy was retired after working over 30 years of service to Bellsouth and AT&T.

 She is preceded in death by her parents and five siblings and is survived by her husband of 56 years, Steve Arthur Shope, Sr.; her son, Steve Arthur Shope, Jr.; sister, Peggy Shope; brother-in-law, Ray Shope; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 Dorothy was cherished by her family and friends and was a fierce defender of her ideals and those she loved.

The family will receive friends and family on October 23, 2022, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Berea Baptist Church, 2578 Riceville Road, Asheville, NC.

A Graveside Service will follow at the church  cemetery at 2:00 PM conducted by Pastor Stanley Taylor.

 Memorial contributions in Dorothy’s honor may be made to the  National Audubon Society.
