Edith Garrett Jenkins

            Edith Garrett Jenkins, age 101, of Black Mountain, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 13,  2021 at her residence. She was born on May 4, 1920 in Sylva, NC to the late Robert U. Garrett and Joyce S. Dills Garrett. She was a graduate of Western Carolina University and the University of Tennessee. Edith worked as Director of Social Services in  both Transylvania and Jackson counties before she retired.
            Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Anne Tansey of Asheville, NC; a grandson, Garrett R. Tansey;  a granddaughter, Catherine T. Smith; and great-grandchildren, Ava Fister and Jackson Tansey.
            The family will lay her to rest in a private ceremony at the Dills Family Cemetery in Sylva, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that you send memorial contributions to your favorite local charity.
