Eugene William Griffey

            Eugene William Griffey, age 63, of Marshall, NC, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021 at his home. He was born on June 15, 1957 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Edward Griffey and Viola Worthington Griffey. Eugene worked at Ingles in Mars Hill. He was of the Baptist Faith, loved music and playing the guitar. He was a shy, quiet and reserved man and also had a great sense of humor and like to joke around with his friends. Eugene was a wonderful brother and very kind hearted. He was someone who would give you the shirt off his back. Along with his parents, Eugene was also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Griffey; his sisters, Kathleen Oliphant, Janet McKenzie and Beverly Brenson; and his brothers, Richard and Edward Griffey.
            Those left behind to cherish his memory is his girlfriend of 12 years, Sherry Parker of Marshall; his sisters, Linda Wilson of Jonesborough, TN, Mildred Shiley and Gail McDuffie, both of Marshall, and Thelma Monaghan of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of nieces and nephews.
            The family will announce a memorial service at a later date. Penland Family Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the Griffey Family and assisting them with arrangements.
