Frances "Irene" (Langford) Buckner

            Frances "Irene" Langford Buckner, born September 2, 1939, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 27, 2020. Irene was a life-long resident of Asheville and loved calling the mountains home. She was the daughter of the late Willard and Fanny Rogers Langford. She was retired after 27 years of working at Phillips Consumer Electronics in Arden as a supervisor. Irene is survived in death by her husband of 62 years, Clarence Bobby Buckner of Asheville. She was the mother of three children, Danny Buckner (Linda) of Asheville, Rick Buckner (Laura) of Asheville and Vicki Buckner of Asheville. She was the grandmother of Amanda Buckner (Wesley) of Longmont, Colorado, and Jacqueline Lovik (Daniel) of Asheville; and close family friend, Barrie Rogers of Asheville. Her heart was her great granddaughter, Kennedy. She was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers. She is survived by two brothers, Donald and Frank Langford.  Irene was a phenomenal mother, devoted grandmother, adored sister, cherished aunt, and loyal friend to many. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church in Asheville. Irene loved Jesus and loved to laugh.
            A funeral service will be held at 12pm, Wednesday, July 1, 2020 in the Penland Family Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be receiving friends an hour before the service from 11am-12pm in the chapel. Pastor Bobby Dalke will be officiating. A private family burial will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Broyhill Children's Home at 111 Sneed Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
