Gary Todd Wood

            Gary Todd Wood, age 79, of Black Mountain, NC, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. He was born on March 20, 1942 in Davenport, Iowa to the late Oprel and Josephine Wood. He was retired and an active member of the Swannanoa Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. For most of his life he worked as a machinist starting at Aircraft Engineering with his father in Indianapolis, Indiana.
            Gary was a loving husband and father, he was a kind, loving, patient man that freely forgave. He enjoyed collecting antique toys, cars and trains, he also loved traveling and ragtime and classical music. He was known for being a gentle loving person, a very hard worker and gave the best hugs. He met his wife Bonnie and was happily married to the love of his life for 55 years.
            Dear ones he left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Bonnie Wood, his brother Steven (Kathie) Wood; Gary and Bonnie’s children; Gary “Todd” (Kimberli)II Wood; Jessie (Ed) Craft; Jason (Shannon) Wood; Johanna (Derek) Young; John (Adria) Wood; Jordan Wood. The beloved granddaughters, Wynnter Wood, Eden and Emme Wood, and Lainee and Lennon Young.
            There will be a Memorial service held on November 13, 2021 at 1:00pm. Penland Family Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the Wood Family and assisting them with arrangements.
