Gene Steinhoff, aged 76 of Candler, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 in her residence with loving family by her side. May her memory be a blessing.
Gene was born mid-November 1948 in New Jersey to the late Samuel Steinhoff and late Ethel Beatrice Steinhoff. She graduated from Columbia High School and went on to earn her B.A. in Spanish from Southampton College in New York.
Over the last 20+ years, Gene lived in Knoxville, Tennessee until settling in Candler. She took great pride working as a Salesperson of appliances for Sears but was happiest completing jigsaw puzzles & shopping for trinkets, chachkas and memorabilia at yard sales. Gene was widely known to rarely forget a birthday, even in her final days.
She is preceded in death by her parents and stepsister Janet Molinaro. She is survived by siblings Mark Steinhoff and partner Peggy Spolar of Tampa, Florida, David Steinhoff and wife Jaye Schlesinger of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Jeff Singer and wife Stacey Singer of Florida, Richard Steinhoff and wife Lorri Bura of Candler, nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews as well as many friends.
Services will be announced at a later time.
The family respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers a donation to "Together Rebuild Our Community After Helene" be made in Gene's honor.
