George Thomas Jones

            George Thomas Jones, age 90, of Asheville, NC, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at his home. He was born on June 30, 1930 in Buncombe County, NC to the late William Roy Jones and Estelle Keever Jones. George was a retired security guard for the Department of Transportation and he attended Pine Burr Baptist Church of Asheville, NC. He was a hard working and kind hearted man who dearly loved his family. Along with his parents, George was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Mae Jones; his brothers, J.B., Marvin, Ernest, Cecil and Albert Jones; and a sister, Elizabeth Grant.

            Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughters, Wanda Bearden, Delores Harper, and Alice Crews, all of Asheville, NC; and his sister, Martha Jenkins (Clarence) of Asheville, NC.

            A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 11am at Woodlawn Cemetery in Asheville with Pastor Troy Rogers officiating. Penland Family Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the Jones Family and assisting them with arrangements.
