Georgia Ruth (Rogers) Harris

Georgia Ruth Rogers Harris, age 78, of Swannanoa, NC, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2019, at Mission Hospital in Asheville. Mrs. Rogers was born on February 22, 1941 to the late Wayne William Rogers and Anna Mae Henderson Rogers.

Mrs. Harris was a wonderful lady with a sweet spirit who had a great sense of humor and a quiet and gentle nature. She was a homemaker and attended Buckeye Baptist Church. Mrs. Harris enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves baseball team, raising her family and eating cheeseburgers. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and they meant everything to her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Harris; and two sons, Ray and Ronnie Harris.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Christine McPherson of Swannanoa and Tina H. Embler and husband Doug, of Asheville; son, Richard “Ricky” Harris of Hendersonville; sisters, Deborah Harwood of Asheville and Wilma Radford of Fletcher; grandchildren, Hunter Embler of Asheville, Aaron Harris and wife Tammy of Leicester, Richard Harris, Jr. and girlfriend Rebecca of Hendersonville, Brandon McPherson, Doug Harris and Krista Courtney and husband Travis, all of Swannanoa; great-grandchildren Austin Crouse, Maverick Courtney, Emorie Courtney, Kasey Harris, Lathon Harris, Mason Harris, all of Swannanoa, Taylor and Dylan Harris of Leicester and Riley Harris of Hendersonville; and great-great grandchildren, Ariana Hurley and Rilen Harris, both of Swannanoa.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Penland Family Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Gregory conducting the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Sky View Memorial Park.
