Georgia Madlene Weaver Penley, age 81 of Asheville, NC, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022, at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville.
Georgia was born on July 12, 1941, to the late Albert Weaver and Annie Mae Shipman Weaver. She was a homemaker and attended Patton Cove Gospel Mission Church in Swannanoa.
She was a Christian lady who loved her Lord and Savior. She prayed for everyone all the time and called herself a “prayer warrior.” Georgia was a sweet, quiet and humble person who loved her family dearly. She was a devoted daughter and sister, loving wife, wonderful mother, grandmother and great-great grandmother, special friend and mother-in-law. Her family and friends will miss her greatly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 2020, Bill Penley; a son, Ricky Lavon Taylor; and her 10 brothers and sisters.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her two sons, Albert “Ray” (Rita) Taylor of Cassatt, SC and Bill (Janelle) Penley, Jr. of Fairview, NC; a daughter, Brenda Riddle of Hendersonville, NC; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Warren Riddle.
A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Sky View Memorial Park, 1610 Tunnel Rd., Asheville, NC 28778 conducted by Pastor Paul Norton and Steve Howard.
The family would like to say a special “thank-you” to the staff at Carolina Pines at Asheville and the staff at Care Partners Hospice for the loving care they showed their mother. To our cousins, Dathon Owens and Regina Guffey, your love, care and attention was much appreciated.
I Made It Home
I just wanted to let you know that I made it home.
Everything is so pretty here, so white, so fresh, so new. I wish that you could
Close your eyes so you could see it too.
Please try not to be sad for me. Try to understand. God is taking care of me…I’m in the
Shelter of His hands.
Here there is no sadness, and no sorrow, and no pain. Here there is no crying, and
I’ll never hurt again.
Here it is so peaceful, when all the angels sing. I really have to go for now…
I’ve just got to try my wings.
PS…I’ll be the first face you see when you get here!
