Glen Craig Obituary

Glen Martin Craig, age 82, of Swannanoa, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the Four Seasons Hospice Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC.

Glen was born on August 7, 1941, in Buncombe County to the late William Fletcher Craig and Elmina Wilson Craig.

He served his country proudly for four years in the United States Marine Corps. Glen continued his career in the military by serving in the United States Army until his retirement, with a total of 21 years served altogether.

Glen was a generous man and a native of North Carolina and always loved living in the mountains. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and growing flowers, too. He also loved all animals and little children. He had a gentle way with both and they always seemed to gravitate to him as well. Those who knew and loved him will miss him dearly.

In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlette Craig; a brother, Billy Craig; and a sister, Jennie Cannon.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 29 years, Ann Hall Craig; two sons, Gollie M. Craig of Swannanoa, NC and Christopher G. Craig, of Hudson, NC; a daughter by marriage, Elizabeth Hall of Swannanoa, NC; a brother, Dean Craig of Jacksonville, FL; three sisters, Shirley Nowlin of Milner, Georgia; Margaret Kelley of Black Mountain, NC, and Ellen Steiner of Boiling Springs, NC; Seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 2 PM in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 962 Old US 70 Highway, Black Mountain, NC 28711.
