Glenda Jean Wilson

            Glenda Jean Wilson, age 77, of Swannanoa, NC, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Pelican Health Asheville. She was born on October 13, 1943 in Buncombe County, NC to the late Marie Wilson. In addition to her mother, Glenda was also preceded in death by her cousin and life-long best friend, Barbara Jean Crawford.

            Before becoming disabled, Glenda worked as a nursing assistant at McDowell House in Asheville, NC and was also a private live-in caregiver in Columbia, SC. She attended Westwood Baptist Church in Asheville, NC. Glenda was a very outgoing, loving, caring and God fearing woman. She loved Elvis Presley and John Wayne; she loved to laugh and enjoyed gardening and cooking. Her family always looked forward to a tin full of goodies at Christmas.

            Those left behind to cherish her memory are her second cousins, Lee Crawford of Leicester, NC, Jack Crawford of Murfreesboro, TN, Melissa "Missy" Cansler (Jeff) of Seneca, SC, and Julie Papesh of Hendersonville, NC; her third cousins, Shaianne, Savannah and Braydon Crawford, all of Asheville, NC, Bradley Crawford of Paris, TN, Meagan Crawford of Tullahoma, TN, Matthew Tamari (Hannah) of Candler, NC, Morgan Papesh of Hendersonville, NC, Carl Cansler of Wilmington, NC and Johnny Sluder of Spartanburg, SC; and her fourth cousins, Layla Tamari of Candler, NC and Annabelle Cansler of Fairview, NC.

            A private burial will be held at West Memorial Park in Weaverville, NC. Penland Family Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the Wilson Family and assisting them with arrangements.
