Harold Dean Stroud, age 88, of Greenville, SC, went home to be with the Lord, on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at his residence. He was born on July 28, 1933 in McDowell County, NC to the late George Leonard Stroud and Martha Chrisawn Stroud. Harold served his country proudly in the United States Navy and worked as a forklift operator at Baxter Healthcare in Marion, NC until his retirement. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Marion. Harold was a Christian man who loved his Lord and Savior. He was very passionate about God and the Gospel of Grace. Harold was a faithful servant and so thankful and appreciative of all God’s blessings. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. Harold loved to count the turkeys in his yard every day and watch what the birds were doing. He was a quiet man but also strong and dignified. He loved his family and considered his two grandsons his “heroes”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 11 brothers and sisters. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 53 years, Anna Lee Woody Stroud; his son, Philip (Lisa) Stroud of Greenville; two grandsons, Nathan Daniel Stroud and Alexander George Stroud, both of Greenville; and a host of nephews and nieces who were very special to Harold.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30pm, Monday, August 23, 2021 in the Penland Family Funeral Home chapel. Reverend Sam Abee and Reverend Eric Grindstaff will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service from 11:30am to 12:30pm. Burial will follow the service at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.
