Hattie "Madge" Madgalene (Case) McKinney

Heaven gained a beautiful angel on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Hattie Madgalene “Madge” Case McKinney, 77, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

Madge was born May 3, 1948, in Buncombe County, NC, to the late Mary Edith Stempson and Alvin Silas “Buster” Case. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Sam McKinney; brothers, Jerry Wallace Case, Buster Larry Case, Arthur Silas Case, and Alvin Joseph Case; and granddaughter Latisha Searcy.

Madge was a wonderful wife, mother, and granny. She loved sewing and did this for most of her life. She was always making things for her family. Most of all, she loved being with family, especially the grandkids and great-grandkids.

Madge worked for Buncombe County Schools until she retired.

Surviving Madge are her sisters, Trish Padgett, Kathy Love (ED); brothers, Bobby Case, Johnny Case; daughters, Samantha Searcy (Bobby) of Candler, NC, Sarenia Searcy (Kenny) of Candler, NC, Cynthia ”Gail” Stoss (Lee)of Candler, NC; grandsons, Justin Murphy of Candler, NC, Anthony Gosnell (Tiffannie) of Candler, NC, Junior Searcy of Waynesville, NC, Cody Stoss of Candler, NC; granddaughter, Zaylee Stoss of Candler, NC; and 9 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 12 PM to 1:30  PM in the chapel of Penland Family Funeral Home, 125 South Avenue, Swannanoa, NC 28778.
