Herbert Eugene Ingle, age 94, of Asheville, NC, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center, in Asheville.
Herbert was born on April 4, 1928, in Canton, NC to the late Chester Ingle and Essie Mae Club Ingle. He worked as a forklift driver at Charles D. Owen until his retirement. Herbert served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Herbert was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family and was a hard worker. Herbert had a good sense of humor and kept everyone laughing. He also was a big sports fan and enjoyed watching his favorite football team, the Carolina Panthers.
In addition to his parents, Herbert was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Grindstaff Ingle; two brothers, Earl and Carroll Ingle; and two sisters, Hilda White and Wilma Ingle.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his four sons, Bill (MaryAnn) Ingle of Burnsville, NC, Darrell Ingle of Dalton, Ga., Ray Ingle of Alexander, NC and Dean (Trudy) Ingle of Swannanoa, NC; two daughters, Jody Fore of Leicester, NC and Kim (Mark) Bradley of Swannanoa, NC; a sister, Ethel Williams of Asheville; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at 12:00 Noon, at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 962 Old US Hwy 70, Black Mountain, NC 28711 with military honors, conducted by Pastor Steve Rhinehart.
