J. B. Turner

J.B. Turner, age 95, of Swannanoa, NC, passed away, on Friday, June 5, 2020 at NC State Veterans Home in Black Mountain.

Mr. Turner was born on October 8, 1924, in Childress, Texas to the the late Jack Turner and Della Lockrage Turner.  He was a member of Swannanoa United Methodist Church where he  enjoyed working at The Welcome Table. Mr. Turner served his country proudly in the United States Army in World War II and in the Korean War. After his time in the military, he worked as an electrician with the Electrical Union of which he had been a member of for over 65 years.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his wife, Cartha Wyatt Turner.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, Steven J. Turner and wife Debra of Weaverville, and Donald Lee Turner of Swannanoa;  a sister, Dorothy Mason of Elkhome, CA; three grandchildren, Brianna Sams and Kyle Turner of Weaverville and Lauren Turner of Asheville; and three great-grandchildren.

A private burial will be held at Mountain View Memorial Park in Black Mountain .

The family respectfully requests to have no visitors at this time.
