Jack Thomas Briggs, age 78, of Asheville, NC, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at his residence. He was born on November 26, 1941 in Ferris, TX to the late O.R. Briggs and Lillian Zura Cook Briggs. Jack worked for NCR for 30 years as a technical service manager. In 1996, he worked for Coldwell Banker as a realtor and earned the prestigious Shooting Star Award. Jack became the co-owner of Realty Executives of Asheville in 1997 and worked until his stroke in 2001. He was a funny, outgoing, people person who loved his wife, family, and friends. He enjoyed spending time on Fontana Lake in his house boat with his grandchildren, friends, and family. Jack always went to his grandchildren's sporting events; even when his health started to fail. He enjoyed playing golf every chance he got and loved having cozy weekends with his wife at their time-share condo in Hilton Head, SC.
Along with his parents, Jack was also preceded in death by his son, Timmy Briggs; a brother, Jerry Briggs; and his sister, Ann Edwards. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda Burns Briggs; his daughters, Randie Harrelson (Cris) of Bladenboro, NC and Tina Orr (Brandon) of Candler, NC; his son, Tony Briggs of Asheville, NC; his brother, Don Briggs (Casey) of Oxford, FL; his sister, Pat Roberts (Bill) of Greenville, SC; his grandchildren, Neely Williams of Fletcher, NC, Heath Briggs of Asheville, NC, Stephen Harrelson of Bladenboro, NC, Reagen, Trexler, Sunnie and Ellie Orr; all of Candler, NC; and his best friends, Jerry Plemmons, Charlie Hunter, and Travis Lunsford.
A Celebration of Jack's Life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Pastor Ronnie Owen and Pastor Stacey Harris officiating.
