James "Jimmy" Harbison, age 71, of Swannanoa, NC, was called to his heavenly home by Hurricane Helene on Sunday, September 29, 2024. He was born on February 8, 1953, in Paterson, NJ, to the late Robert Harbison and Fawn Daugherty Harbison.
Jimmy had a great sense of humor. He was a very loving and caring man who loved his family and was deeply loved by his brothers and sisters, who will miss him dearly. James loved people; there wasn’t a person he came into contact with that he didn't speak to. James served in the US Army as a paratrooper with the 82nd Division. He was a welder and held a certificate as a Boiler.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Harbison, sister, Maxine Harbison, and niece, Fawn Harbison. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his brothers, Robert (Charlene) Harbison and Terry (Samantha) Harbison of New Jersey; sisters, Norma Harbison of Swannanoa, Yvonne Richberg of Asheville, NC and adopted sister Alice Harvey of New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Penland Family Funeral Home.
Penland Family Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the Harbison family at this time.
