Obituary
James Glen Padgett, age 85, of Asheville, NC, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at his residence.
James was born on January 23, 1938 in Cherokee County, NC to the late Garnet Glen Padgett and Edith Agnes Hass.
He retired from Welch Allyn after 37 years. Some of his greatest pleasures were hiking, and riding his motorcycle or bicycle on the Blue Ridge Parkway. He was a musical man who enjoyed gospel and blue grass music and would many times be found playing his guitar or banjo.
James will be remembered as a hard working man and a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. His love for joking around will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents James was preceded in death by his son, Charles James Padgett; two brothers, George Padgett, and Jimmy Padgett; two sisters, JoAnne Petty and Portia. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 35 years, Glenda McGraw Padgett of Asheville; daughter Sharen Glugover (Aaron) of Leicester, NC; step daughter, Victoria Miller of Winston Salem, NC; daughter in-law, Karina Padgett of Asheville; sister, Carol Bull of Winston Salem; granddaughter, Dara Glugover of Leicester; two grandsons, Seth Padgett of Asheville and Gabe Glugover of Bluffton, SC; three step- granddaughters, Angela Miller of Asheville, Shandi Cabral of Winston Salem and Shannon Cabral of Winston Salem; and great grandson, Logan Gush of Winston Salem.
A Funeral Service is planned for Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Gashes Creek Baptist Church 308 Gashes Creek Rd., Asheville, NC 28803 , with Pastor Mike Rogers officiating . The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Burial will follow funeral service at Gashes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
