Jerry "Gerald" Howell, II Obituary

Jerry “Gerald” Ray Howell, II, age 56, of Black Mountain, NC passed away on December 22, 2023, at his residence.

Gerald was born on November 4, 1967, in Spruce Pine, NC, to the late Jerry Ray Howell and Patricia Lee Cahoon Howell.

Gerald was a master carpenter who enjoyed a variety of projects, helping his family and friends.  He was always the first to volunteer to help with whatever needed done.  And trust me he KNEW how to do it!

He owned a landscaping business that was a passion for many years.  Gerald recently worked at Ingles Warehouse where he didn't have coworkers, he had Buddies.  He fiercely loved his job and his friendships. Gerald enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, great food and good Bourbon most of all.

His children were of the furry kind (Mama Cat, Vinney, and Bo) and he spoiled them beyond measure! Not too far behind them were his many nieces and nephews that he thought the world of and spoiled as often as he could.

In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by a sister, Jessica Howell.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his two sisters, Stephanie Allen and her husband Ken, of Black Mountain, and Monica Rousseau of Hendersonville, NC; five nieces, Chelcie Spencer and her husband, Jonathan, of Candler, NC, Alexandra Christiansen of Candler, NC, Madison, Ella and Ayden Rousseau, all of Hendersonville, NC; five nephews, Zechariah Christiansen and his wife Hope, of Black Mountain, NC, Ethan and Caleb Rousseau, both of Hendersonville, NC, and Russell C. Allen of Black Mountain, NC and Haylen Allen of Waynesville, NC; and four great-nieces, Cayden Spencer of Candler, NC, Peyton Christiansen of Candler, NC, Amelia Mitchell of Black Mountain, NC and Isla Rousseau of Hendersonville, NC.

A Celebration of Gerald’s Life will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the chapel of Penland Family Funeral Home, 125 South Avenue, Swannanoa, NC, 28778, conducted by Reverend Steve Cahoon.
