Jesse "J.D." Dock Hayes Allen

            Jesse “J.D.” Dock Hayes Allen, age 79, of Swannanoa, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. He was born on January 1, 1942 in Burnsville, NC to the late Sylvester Charles Allen and Vaughtie Mae Hughes. He was a retired truck driver and of the Baptist faith.

            Jesse was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family dearly and they meant everything to him. He loved his dogs and enjoyed all kinds of sports. He loved watching baseball, wrestling and football.

            In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Lee Allen; and a sister, Anna Vaughtie Allen.

            Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 years, Nancy Deyton Allen; three daughters, Anna Maria (Dwayne) Almany of Etowah, NC, Tina Louise (Patrick) Holcombe of Fletcher, NC, and Leisa Renee (Randy) Wilson of Asheville; two sons, William Jay (fiancé, Angela Jones) Allen and Elijah Gage McKinney, both of Swannanoa; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

            A memorial service will be held at 1pm, Sunday, September 19, 2021 in the Penland Family Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be receiving friends an hour before the service from 12pm-1pm in the Penland's Chapel.

            In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to one of Jesse's favorite charities: ​International Fellowship of Christians and Jews at P.O. Box 96105, Washington, DC 20090-6105.
