Jo Ann Silvers Hensley Pressley of Swannanoa went home to be with Jesus, peacefully surrounded by her family, on April 11, 2026, at her home.
Jo Ann was born February 24, 1941, the daughter of the late Joseph Ervin Silvers and Cordelia Silvers of Yancey County. She was the youngest of 11 children. She came to Buncombe County in the early 60’s to raise her family. She retired from Bussman Fuse.
Jo Ann is survived by her 4 children; Dwayne Hensley (Jeneal), Blane Hensley (Kristie), Tony Hensley (Jean), and Renita Pearson (Mark), 6 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Jo Ann was a kind, generous, loving, compassionate soul who lived for her family.
She always made every Birthday special. She loved gardening and always had a beautiful yard full of flowers. She loved to create and be crafty and sewing. She made quilts for the family. Her favorite pastimes were people- and bird-watching. She never met a child who was a stranger. She loved them all.
There will be a celebration of life and receiving of friends at Penland Family Funeral Home in Swannanoa on Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 2 pm to 4 pm.
A private interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully asks that donations be made to Four Seasons Hospice in Jo Ann’s honor.
Penland Family Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the Hensley family at this time.
