Joan Marie Owensby

Joan Marie Owensby, age 74, and a beloved 30-year resident of Fairview, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

Born in Asheville, NC, on July 11, 1951, Joan was the daughter of the late Edward Myron Owenby and Agnes Penley Owenby. She graduated from A.C. Reynolds High School in Asheville and went on to work at the VA Hospital, where she dedicated her career to serving others. Joan found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially her love of flowers and crocheting.

She is survived by her sons, Michael J. Owensby (Jerry) and wife Kelly of Fairview, NC, and James D. Owensby (Jamie) of Swannanoa, NC; as well as her cherished grandson, Austin M. Owensby of Fairview.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Mountain View Memorial Park, 392 Tabernacle Road, Black Mountain, NC.
