John Clifton Moore

John Clifton Moore, 69, of Fairview, NC, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

Born on December 22, 1956, John was the son of Mildred McAbee Moore of Fairview and the late Clarence Junior Moore (2007). He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Kevin Moore and Robert Moore.

John lived in Swannanoa before making his home in Fairview. He earned several diplomas from Mayland Technical College and was self-employed as a drywall installer for many years. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed NASCAR, sports, and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his mother, John is survived by his son, Dallas Moore (Jessica) of Canton, NC; his daughter, Kristy Wilson (Matt) of Cullowhee, NC; his sisters, Janet Dawson (Dwain) of Black Mountain, NC and Diane Reed (Benny) of St. Augustine, FL; his grandchildren, Zachary Wilson of Cullowhee, NC, Karli Moore of Asheville, NC, Kalyn Shook (Mack) of Fayetteville, NC, and Madilyn Moore of Canton, NC; his great-grandson, Sylas Shook of Fayetteville, NC; and his special friends, Allen and Kris Spillars.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Mission Hospital for the compassionate care they provided to John during his final days.

A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Penland Family Funeral Home, 125 South Avenue, Swannanoa, NC 28778.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Cane Creek Cemetery, 94 Graveyard Rd, Fairview, NC 28730. Pastor Todd Royal will officiate.
