Judy Thompson Obituary

Judy Kay Owens Thompson, of Black Mountain, NC, broke free of the surly bonds of Earth on May 23, 2026. She passed with her husband by her side at home. She was instantly at her new home in heaven.

Judy was born on November 5, 1949, to her loving parents, Charles and Eunice Owens, in the small Ozarks Town of Willow Springs, MO. Six months later, she was on her way to Roseburg, Oregon. She remained on the “go” the rest of her life. Before she left home to join her husband Ken in the Air Force, she had lived in Oregon, California, Wyoming, and Colorado. With her husband, she lived in Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Arkansas, Kansas, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Texas, Georgia, and North Carolina. She visited many other states and countries during her time as a career military wife and her husband’s employment overseas.

Judy often committed on what a carefree childhood she had. There was never an argument or harsh word spoken in the home. Her father told her, “It's only what you do for God that counts,” as she was leaving home. She followed his advice the rest of her life.

Judy worked many different jobs as a military wife and finally as a registered nurse. She made friends easily wherever she lived. She was never interested in seeking the limelight or speaking about her accomplishments. She was always more interested in others than herself. Judy leaves behind her husband, son Stuart, granddaughter Rylee, and brother Randy.
