Julian Heywood Holley, Jr., age 80, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, at the North Carolina Veterans Home in Black Mountain. Born on July 4, 1945, in Chelsea, Massachusetts, he was a loving brother, uncle, and friend.
A proud United States Air Force veteran, Julian served honorably from 1965 to 1969. His service continued for the next two decades in the National Guard. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Mars Hill College. Known to family as “Uncle Dewey,” he loved music, westerns, Dallas Cowboys football, and the companionship of his cherished dog, Buddy.
Julian was preceded in death by his parents, Julian Heywood Holley, Sr. and Anna Rosenbloom Holley; and his sister, Linda Holley Norman. He is survived by his brother-in-law of more than 60 years, Charles Norman; nieces Sherri McRoberts, Terri Norman, and Lauri Nichols; grandniece Madison McRoberts; and grandnephews Taylor McRoberts, Dylan Nichols, and Max Nichols.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, in the chapel at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 962 Old US Highway 70 in Black Mountain. Friends are invited to join in fellowship and remembrance.
