Kenneth Lewis Penley

            Kenneth Lewis Penley, age 80, of Leicester, NC, went to be his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at his home. He was born on April 19, 1941 in Buncombe County, NC to the late Landreth Penley and Lucille Lewis Penley. Kenneth was a strong Christian man who loved his Lord and Savior, his church, and his church family. He was a member of Newfound Baptist Church in Leicester, NC where he was involved in the Bus Ministry and was one of the Sunday school teachers there as well. Kenneth was quite the outdoorsman and especially loved bow hunting. He was the president of Blue Ridge Bow Hunters and is in the NC Bow Hunter Hall of Fame. After proudly serving his country in the United States Army, Kenneth went on to work as a vending machine mechanic.
            Those left behind to cherish Kenneth's memory are his beloved wife of 47 years, Nancy Cannon Penley; a very special niece, Emily Penley of Honolulu, HI; his brothers, Robert Penley and Ernie Penley (Sara), both of Leicester, NC; his sister, Ann Delliger of Woodfin, NC; his nephew, Roger Penley; and his brother-in-law, Michael Cannon.
            A memorial service will be held at 2pm, Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Newfound Baptist Church. Bradley Johnson and Samuel King will be officiating.

             In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to either CarePartners Asheville Hospice at 68 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28803 or to Newfound Baptist Church at 2605 New Leicester Hwy, Leicester, NC 28748. The family would like to say a special thank you to CarePartners Hospice for all of the love and care that was shown to Kenneth.
