Laura Frances Searcy, 88, of Black Mountain, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at the CarePartners Solace Center in Asheville with her children by her side.
Born April 14, 1936, in Henderson County, NC, she was the daughter of the late William and Ollie Hopson. She enjoyed many things in life, but she enjoyed most of all collecting an array of dolls, collecting and using her fine China tea sets, finding deals at local thrift stores and yard sales, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her spouse, Ray Searcy; siblings, James Hopson, Dora Parton, Annie Mae Spillars, Burgan Hopson, and Jessie Hopson; and grandchildren, Ricky White, Virginia Haney, and Michael Haney.
Surviving are her children: Daisy White and her husband, Don Laws, Betty White and her husband James, Nancy Frady, and Randy Frady; eight grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and fifteen great-great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 3 PM on Friday, March 21, 2025, in the chapel of Victory Baptist Church, with the family receiving friends two hours prior. Rev. Robert Haney will officiate. After the service, the family will receive friends at 2267 Highway 70 in Swannanoa. All are Welcome.
