Lois Jane (Bartlett) Rich

Lois Jane Bartlett Rich, age 87, of Arden, NC, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.

Lois was born on March 16, 1935, in Buncombe Co., NC, to the late Ernest Russell Bartlett and Lillie Mae Fore Bartlett.

Lois was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and she loved her family dearly. She was a strong Christian woman who was devoted to serving and caring for others. She worked in a nursing home for a time, and enjoyed caring for the people there and she was also the director of the after school program in Henderson County, caring for the children there.

 She cared for others more than herself.  She instilled in her children her Christian values of serving others and her faith was the most important thing to her.  Her daughter Kaye took on the role of being the caregiver of her mother 24 hours a day for the past 14 years as her health declined, just as Lois did for her husband, Lee, during his illness. Her strength and faith were a testimony to who she was.

In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest Lee Rich; an infant son, Larry Rich; three brothers, Jack, Harold, and Clarence Bartlett; and a sister, Pauline Silver.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her four daughters, Kathy (Fred) Justice of Flat Rock, NC, Karen (Tom) Wright, of Arden, NC, Kaye Rich of Arden, NC, and Kimberly (Ricky) Honeycutt of Alexander, NC; three brothers, Lewis Bartlett of Asheville, NC, Charles Bartlett of Weaverville, NC, and Dewey (Judy) Bartlett of Asheville, NC; five grandsons, Joshua (Christy) Wright of Hendersonville, NC, Levi (Brittany) Wright of Hendersonville, NC, Gideon Honeycutt of Hickory, NC, Gabriel (Kelly) Honeycutt of Hickory, NC, and Grayson Honeycutt, of Hickory, NC; a granddaughter, Emily Honeycutt of Hickory, NC; and eight great-grandchildren.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 11:00 AM, at the Rich Family Cemetery, use the far right driveway, just before the CVS, at 316 New Leicester Hwy., Asheville, NC 28806 officiated by Pastor Blair Stewart.
