Lona (Stephenson) McMahan

Lona McMahan, 97, of Swannanoa, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Stonecreek Health and Rehabilitation in Asheville.

Born September 14, 1926 in Buncombe County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Horace and Janie Stephenson. She attended Swannanoa Church of God and retired from Beacon Manufacturing.

Of her many enjoyments in life, working in her flower garden was one of her favorites.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her spouse, Oscar McMahan; son, David McMahan; and siblings, Jim Stephenson, Horace Stephenson, and Bill Stephenson.

Surviving is her brother, Charles Stephenson of Swannanoa, and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2023 in the chapel of Penland Family Funeral Home in Swannanoa, conducted by Pastor Randy Gregory.
