Louise Dixon Jones, age 92, of Black Mountain, NC, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023 at The Woodland Nursing Home in Farmville, VA.
Louise was born on July 22, 1930 in Buncombe County, NC to the late Ervin Vede Dixon and Rosa Lee Flack. She attended Carver Elementary in Black Mountain, NC and School of Culinary Arts in Asheville, NC. Louise worked for the WNC Sanatorium of Black Mountain and Christmont Christian Assembly. She was a member of Mills Chapel Baptist Church in Black Mountain. In addition to Black Mountain she resided in Manassas, VA and Farmville, VA. Gardening, Cooking, Singing, Dancing and Serving her Community were some of greatest pleasures.
In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her first husband Lonnie Smith Sr. and second husband William Jones and her son Lonnis Smith Jr., her sister Mary W. Dixon and a brother Samuel E. Dixon. Those left behind to cherish her memory are son Bishop Donald L. Smith and spouse Meredith of Manassas, VA; daughter Elesa R. Bynum and spouse Stephen of Farmville, VA; grandsons, Jerry D. Smith and spouse Joanna of Sparta, NJ and Carlos Bynum and spouse Sandra of Chattanoga, TN; granddaughter, Unita L. Smith of Woodbridge, VA; great-grandchildren, Quenton Bynum and spouse Brittany, Tevin Bynum and spouse Tasha, Lateya Bynum and 10 others; great-great granddaughter, Syera Plitt of Los Angeles, CA; nieces, Priscilla Trogdon of Ashboro, NC, Bonnie Keeter of Winston Salem, NC; great niece, Victoria Burnett of Winston Salem; great nephews Kenneth Trogdon and spouse Marcie, Michael Trogdon and spouse Audrey, Quinton Trogdon of Asheboro.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 11:00 am at Mills Chapel Baptist Church, 328 Cragmont Rd, Black Mountain, NC 28711. The Family will receive friends an hour prior from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Burial will follow funeral services at Oak Grove Cemetery located on church grounds. Reverend Bobby Hill Jr., Bishop Michael Trogdon and Pastor Bishop Donald Smith to officiate services.
