Lynda Annette Brooks

Lynda Annette Brooks, born in Asheville on August 22, 1950, passed away on April 25, 2026.  Lynda was the daughter of the late Charlie Brooks, Jr. and Eloise Brooks.

Lynda is survived by her brothers Lynn, Larry (Robin), and Timothy (Sharon); nephews Andrew (Jennifer) and Parker (Patricia); nieces Ashley (David), Alison; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many beloved friends.

Lynda retired after a distinguished and successful career in banking and finance. She began her career at First Union National Bank in Brevard, NC.  She soon transferred to the main operations center in Asheville.  Due to her remarkable work ethic and hard work, she advanced rapidly to the position of Banking Officer. Her reputation for excellence led her to First Commercial Bank in Asheville, NC, where she was an intricate part of creating the operations department for the newly chartered Bank. She retired as Sr. VP of Cash Management from Centura Bank.

Lynda had a generous heart and always thought of others.  She showed sincere compassion for others daily. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on May 1, 2026, in the chapel of Penland’s Funeral Home in Swannanoa.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.  Alan Stepp officiating.  Interment will follow at Lewis Memorial Park in Asheville.
