Margaret E. Parton Damon, age 84 of Black Mountain, NC, passed peacefully into heaven on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at her home.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald John Damon; her parents, Oscar Livingston Parton and Hallie Beeler Parton; her sister, Nell Smith; and six brothers, Ronnie, Walt, Bruce, Cy, Ed, and Vantoy Parton.
Margaret is survived by one sister, Joyce Parton of the home; brothers, Ralph Parton of Maynardville, TN, and James Parton of the home; stepchildren, Cory Damon and Kimberly Blenner of Sacramento, CA; grandson, Taylor Damon of Sacramento, CA; special niece, Connie (Dennis) Jones of Whittier, NC; and a host of other nieces and nephews. Margaret retired from a management position at Pacific Bell in Sacramento, CA.
She dedicated 40-plus years to a job she was extremely proud of. Her years were filled with volunteer work, from helping build Ronald McDonald houses, working with the Red Cross of California, to working the voting precincts in Black Mountain. She owned “Perfectly Parton” Floral Arrangements in Sacramento, CA. Being a middle child was always a stigma with Margaret, as she felt the need to help her other 10 siblings. Margaret was a contributing member of the Black Mountain Order of the Moose and the Women of the Moose Auxiliary. She was also a die-hard Atlanta Braves fan who watched ever game available on the TV.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 11 AM in the Chapel of Penland Family Funeral Home, 125 South Ave., Swannanoa, NC 28778. The family will receive friends an hour prior, with interment taking place after the service at Mountain View Memorial Park, 392 Tabernacle Rd., Black Mountain, NC 28711.
