Marian Bradley Obituary

     On November 6, 2022 Marian Young Bradley went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Marian leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, grace and love which she eagerly shared with her beloved family and friends. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor. She found great joy in each of these roles

     She was born Marian Louise Young in Wadsworth, Ohio on September 4, 1926, to Ervin A and Bertha Seiberling Young. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Dr. Matthew H Bradley lll; brother, Howard Young; sister, Marjorie Close; granddaughter, Kristin Baden; and great-granddaughter Lily Baden.

Surviving to treasure her memory are son, Matthew Bradley (Fawn); daughters, Sandy Baden (Jim), Kathy Ehrnschwender (Tom), Laura Thrasher (Al); 10 grandchildren, Heather Henderson, Craig Baden (Lori), Scott Baden (Elizabeth), Michael Baden (Erica Drennen), Derek Ehrnschwender, Emily Ehrnschwender, Sonja Thrasher, Connor Thrasher, Ava Yurko, Will Yurko;

10 greatgrandchildren, Tyler, Lilah, Amelia, Kailee, Jacob, Lydia, Madeleine, Mae, Laurel, and Cora; and beloved nieces, Cinda, Peggy, Margot and nephew, Roger.

     Marian graduated from Cornell University in 1948 and from the University of Akron City Hospital’s Medical Technology program the following year. Marian and Matt were married on July 1, 1950, and raised their family on Miami Beach, Florida. In addition to her priorities of being a wife and mother, Marian initiated the Miami Beach letter writing campaign for the American Heart Association, and devotedly served at the Church by the Sea, Miami Heart Institute Auxiliary, PEO, and the Miami Beach Garden Club. She attained her private pilot’s license and accompanied her husband on many flights including to their homes in Bimini, Bahamas and North Carolina.

Upon retiring to Boone, North Carolina, Marian relished her life on “The Farm.”  She regularly served garden-fresh dinners and enjoyed creating beautiful bouquets.  Lots of adventures were shared with her beloved grandchildren, including fun with horses, goats and ridgetop views.  She generously welcomed large groups of family and friends to her home for fun and fellowship. She was an active volunteer at Grace Lutheran Church and Meals on Wheels, sharing her love with those in need. Upon moving to Givens Highland Farms, Marian’s friend circle grew further with her warm loving spirit. Always generous, and an encouraging and compassionate servant of her Lord, Marian will be missed by many.

     A service of worship to celebrate Marian’s life will be held Saturday, November 19th at 11am with Reverend Matthew Smith officiating at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 10 N. Liberty Street, Asheville, NC 28801, followed by a receiving of friends.  A graveside service at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens of Boone will follow in December.
