Marie (Whitaker) Carver

            Billie Marie Whitaker Carver, age 87, of Asheville, NC, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Mission Hospital. She was born on April 15, 1933 in Fairview, NC to the late Wm. Theodore Whitaker and Christine Owenby Whitaker. Marie worked as a transport driver for Bryan Easler Toyota for 26 years and was a member of Morningside Baptist Church in Asheville. Along with her parents, Marie was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, William "Tommy" Thomas Carver; sister, Fay Hugg; and brothers, Fredrick and Joseph Whitaker.

            Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Becky Fisher (Wesley) of Edmond, OK, Martha Plemmons (David) of Leicester, NC and Susan Ballard (Obie) of Winston-Salem, NC; sister, Jean Tigges of Raleigh, NC; grandsons, Bruce Armitage of Asheville, NC, Jeremy Fisher (Julie) of Irwin, PA, Jason Fisher of Moore, OK, and John Mark Plemmons of Leicester, NC; granddaughters, Tiffany Hyder of Asheville, NC, and Crystal Pritchett (Matthew) of Edmond, OK; and her great grandchildren, Olivia Presley Eades (Mason) of Marion, NC, Nolan Presley of Chapel Hill, NC, Maddex Fisher, Stella Fisher, Willow Fisher, all of Irwin, PA, Bruce Armitage III of Leicester, NC, and Alyssa Pritchett of Edmond, OK.

            The family would like to say a special thank you to Mrs. Carver's cousin, Cathy Owenby of Fairview, NC and also to Rev. Earl Jones and his wife, Pat.           

            A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to WNC Baptist Retirement Home at 213 Richmond Hill Drive, Asheville, NC 28806.
