Marilyn Nancy Hoxit, known to her loved ones as Sis, passed away on September 9, 2023, in Hendersonville, NC, at the age of 62. Marilyn was born on May 14, 1961, in Hendersonville, NC, to Thelma Jones McMinn and Eugene McMinn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brothers Raymond McMinn and Gene McMinn Jr., her aunt Rosie Buckner, and uncles Jack Smith and Oliver Jones.
Marilyn was a caring, considerate, and loving person. She had a stubborn but proud nature and cherished her independence. Marilyn started her own Cleaning Business and later became a dedicated stay-at-home mom, prioritizing her family above all else.
Marilyn leaves behind a loving family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Hoxit, her daughter Olivia Harris, her son-in-law Ryan Harris, and her beloved grandson Navi Harris, who brought her immense joy. Marilyn is also survived by her uncle Jim McMinn as well as her brother Bill McMinn, sisters Eva Justice, Barbara Griffin, and Penny McMinn. She leaves behind her nephews Andy McMinn, Sammy Justice, Kyle McMinn, and Kodi McMinn. Her great-nephews Hermy & Harry, Anakin Justice and nieces Fair Griffin, Faith Taylor, Hunter Taylor, Elizabeth Taylor, Bridgette Taylor, and Jackie Taylor were also dear to her heart.
Marilyn attended Flat Rock Primary School and East High School.
She found solace and strength in her faith and was an active member of Valley Hill Baptist Church, Etowah Baptist, and Pleasant Grove Baptist. Her spiritual connections provided her with comfort and support throughout her life.
In her free time, Marilyn enjoyed watching shows like Rheba, Friends, and The Golden Girls. She cherished spending quality time with her family and found joy in reading books by Jannette Evanovich. Marilyn's greatest pleasure came from playing with her beloved grandson, Navi.
A remembrance service will be held in honor of Marilyn at Valley Hill Baptist Church, located at 118 School St, Hendersonville, NC, 28739, on September 16th at 3:00 PM. Hosted by Danny Pridmore
The funeral arrangements are being handled with care and compassion by Penland Family Funeral Home in Swannanoa, NC.
Marilyn Nancy Hoxit will be remembered for her kind and loving nature, her dedication to her family, and her unwavering independence. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
