Mary Elaine (West) Stuart

Mary Elaine West Stuart, age 56, of Black Mountain, NC, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.

Mary was born on February 27, 1966, in Buncombe County to  Marie Elaine Ballew of Lumberton, NC and the late Raymond Sandy West.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She loved to listen to all music and enjoyed dancing. She always looked forward to going on long car rides and having cookouts with family and friends. Mary was an outgoing person who was an honest and genuine friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her biological father, Mary was preceded in death by the parents who raised her, Arthur and Mary Ballew; and three brothers, Butch, Paul and Jimmy Ballew.

Those left behind to cherish her memory, are her loving husband of 38 years, Dwayne Stuart of the home; two sons, Ricky Glenn (Crystal) Ballew of Asheville, NC and Steven Dwayne (Shannon) Stuart of Leicester, NC; three daughters, Alisha Lorene (Tremayne) Moore of Candler, NC, Michelle (Matthew) Ingle of Candler, NC, and Elizabeth (Walter) Raegan of Rutherfordton, NC; four brothers, Raymond (Janet) West of Bakersville, NC, Johnny West of Bakersville, NC and Kevin (Sherry) West of Rockingham, NC, Ronnie(Mary) Ballew Sr. of Leicester, NC; three sisters, Pamela (Ronnie) Snyder of Lumberton, NC, Sandy Smith of Asheville, NC, Melinda West and Cindy West, both of Bakersville, NC; 20 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Penland Family Funeral Home, 125 South Ave., Swannanoa, NC, 28778,  conducted by Pastor Johnny Raines.
