Matthew Brent Jones

Matthew Brent Jones, age 48, of Black Mountain, NC, departed to be with his Lord on Saturday morning, April 8, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Horry County, South Carolina on August 5, 1974 to Rose Prichard Jones and the late Lloyd Worth Jones.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs., Carl L. Prichard; and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Jones.

Matthew was a long-time faithful member of Swannanoa Heights Baptist Church where he served in the choir and a faithful member of the Adult Men’s Sunday School class. He attended and graduated from Charles D. Owen High School with honors and Knoxville Hair Design College where he earned his Master’s Barbers Degree.

Matthew had a true servant’s heart and loved the Lord and his family. Matthew was a faithful and devoted caregiver to his Mother and Father and has received his rewards in Heaven.

In addition to his mother, Matthew is survived by his sister, Tina Jones Hamby (David); half-brother, Reverend Lloyd D. Jones (Eugena); and loving nieces and nephews.

A Service to Celebrate Matthew’s Life is being held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 6:00 PM at Swannanoa Heights Baptist Church with Reverend Bruce Robinson and Reverend Tommy Morrow officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Special singing will be by “Four for Him” and a special song by Brent Nichols. Honorary pallbearers are Parks Prichard (Uncle) and Matthew’s Adult Sunday School Class.

Interment will follow when his mother joins him in glory.
