Maxine (Harbison) Boyd

            Maxine Harbison Boyd, age 72, of Waynesville, NC, was called to her heavenly home on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Haywood Nursing Care and Rehabilitation. She was born on April 25, 1949 in Buncombe County, NC to the late Robert Harbison, Sr. and Fawn Daugherty Harbison. Maxine was a devoted and loving homemaker for her family who she cherished and loved dearly. She was a very sweet, kind, and loving person and a wonderful mother and grandmother. Maxine was one of a kind and her presence would light up the room in an instant. Heaven definitely gained a very special angel. She enjoyed playing bingo and was often a "winner". She was a member of Macedonia AME Zion Church in Swannanoa.

            Along with her parents, Maxine was also preceded in death by her brother, Michael Leon Harbison; and a niece, Fawn Harbison. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Alvin Harbison (Nevada) of Hendersonville, NC; her daughter, Angela Boyd of Asheville, NC; her sisters, Norma Harbison of Swannanoa, NC and Yvonne Harbison-Richberg of Asheville, NC; adopted sister, Alice Harvey Paterson of New Jersey; her brothers, Robert Harbison, Jr. (Charlene) of Pennsylvania, James Harbison of Swannanoa, NC and Terry Lee Harbison (Samantha) of New Jersey; her grandson, Lukyas Harbison of Asheville, NC; her granddaughters, Tanasia Boyd, Meaghyan Harbison, Morghyan Harbison and Loraya Harbison, all of Asheville, NC; her great-grandchildren, Aryiah Bryson and Elijah Link, both of Asheville, NC; a special relative, Aunt Bernice Spencer of Swannanoa, NC; and a host of nephews and nieces.

            A memorial service will be held at 2pm, Saturday, May 29, 2021 in the Penland Family Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Yvonne Harvey Williams officiating.
