Nancy C. Hendon, age 86, of Black Mountain, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Givens Highland Farms. She was born on December 1, 1933 in Heath, KY to the late Dwight D. Crisp and Marie Graves Crisp. Nancy was a military spouse and attended Orange Park United Methodist Church in Orange Park, FL. Along with her parents, she was also predeceased by her beloved husband of 64 years, Col. Gene E. Hendon, who passed away on February 10, 2018. Nancy is survived by her son, Michael Kent Hendon (Wendy) of Americus, GA; her daughters, Jeannie H. Francis of Marion, VA and Elizabeth Hendon Studer (Scott) of Sherrills Ford, NC; her brother, Michael G. Crisp (Leslie) of Portola Valley, CA; her sister, Ann Demaree of Charleston, SC; and her seven grandchildren, Caitlin Hendon, Seth Studer, David Francis, Samuel Studer, Alex Francis, Michael Francis and Blake Studer.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 28, 2020 at Orange Park United Methodist Church. The time is still to be decided. Burial will be at Jacksonville National Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Charles Lever will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the church following the service.
