Norma Jean Faulkner Taylor, age 73, of Skyland, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020, at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
Mrs. Taylor was born on October 13, 1946 in Madison County to the late William Faulkner and Fanny Buckner Faulkner. She attended Biltmore Church and had a Medical Technician degree and worked for Buncombe County Health Department until she decided to be a homemaker.
She loved her family dearly and was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She was always happy and had a beautiful smile. Her family says she was known for being a great cook and everyone loved to get her Bon Bon treats at Christmas. She enjoyed making ceramics and doing word search puzzles. Mrs. Taylor also loved to travel and enjoyed going to the shows in Pigeon Forge. She was someone who never met a stranger and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Faulkner.
She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Robert Dewey Taylor; sons, Anthony “Tony” Holland (Laura) of Asheville, Ted Taylor (Debbie) of Candler, Tim Taylor (Debbie), Tony Taylor (Kim), and Jeff Taylor , all of Swannanoa; a daughter, Debbie Allison (Jeff) of Hendersonville; brothers, Ralph Faulkner and Ricky Faulkner, both of Asheville; sisters, Joanne Morrow (Tom) of Fairview, and Linda Grogan of Brevard; Eight grandchildren; and Nine great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Penland Family Funeral Home with Reverend David Dimsdale officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Burial will follow the service at Ashelawn Cemetery in Asheville.
