Norman Metcalf Obituary

Norman Bernhardt Metcalf, age 84, of Asheville, NC, went home to be with the Lord, on Saturday, October 16, 2022, at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville.

Norman was born on February 22, 1938, in Buncombe County to the late Kelly Metcalf and Victoria Corn Metcalf.

He was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church and was the parts manager at Deal Buick in Asheville until his retirement. Norman served his country proudly as Sargent in the United States Army.

He enjoyed being outdoors. He loved nature, animals and all of God’s creations. Norman also loved to grow a vegetable garden every year and he enjoyed going fishing. He had a great sense of humor and always left you with a smile. Most of importantly, Norman loved the Lord, and he loved reading his Bible.

In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by his two brothers, Niven and Layne Metcalf; two sisters, Francis Alexander and Burnisee Moss; and son-in-law, Randy Burgess.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 65 years, Nell Blazer Metcalf; his daughter Vicki Metcalf Burgess; and several nieces and nephews.

No services are planned at this time.
