Patsy Lucille (Hughes) Cox

            Patsy Lucille Hughes Cox, age 72, of Swannanoa, NC, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. She was born on July 22, 1949, in Mitchell County, to the late Claude Hughes and Hester Johnson Hughes. Patsy was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was a very caring and sweet person who had a giving spirit and loved to help those in need. She was also a very strong person who overcame many struggles and she persevered the best as she could after suffering from a stroke at the young age of 25.  Patsy enjoyed working crossword puzzles and watching her favorite television shows.

            Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, James Cox of Swannanoa; her three brothers, Mack (Judy) Hughes of Candler, Charles (Vickie) Hughes of Swannanoa and Fred (Luz) Hughes of Raeford, NC; and two sisters, Christine Lane and Eloise (Bill) McGee, both of Swannanoa.

            A memorial service will be held at 12pm, Friday, August 6, 2021 in the chapel of Penland Family Funeral Home with the Reverend Allen Rash officiating.
