Pauline (McMahan) Gibson

Pauline McMahan Gibson, age 78, of Swannanoa, NC, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at her residence.

Pauline was born on April 30, 1944, in Buncombe Co., NC to the late Carmel Lee McMahan and Kathleen Hughes McMahan. She was a 1962 graduate of Charles D. Owen High School and she was of the Baptist faith.

Pauline was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker and a great cook. Her family always loved the macaroni salad and potato salad she made for them. She also enjoyed going camping and fishing. Most of all, Pauline loved her family dearly and she will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her daughter, Moneeka Gibson; and a sister, Elveta Miller.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 60 years, Cecil Hobert Gibson, of the home; a daughter, Vicky Gibson Pruitt and husband Larry of Alexander, NC; three sons, Anthony Cecil Gibson and wife Angie of Swannanoa, NC, Eric James Gibson and wife Jennifer of Swannanoa, NC, and Travis Scott Gibson and wife Julie of Marion, NC; a sister, Linda Hart and husband Jerry of Swannanoa, NC; three brothers, Gary McMahan and wife Sandy of Marion, NC, Larry McMahan of Black Mountain, NC, and Johnny McMahan and wife Hazel of Black Mountain, NC;  six grandsons, Nathan Pruitt and wife Lois, Dustin Pruitt and wife Courtney, Trenton Gibson, Sean Pruitt, Kyle Pruitt, and Eric James Gibson, Jr.; nine granddaughters, Jessica Gibson, Jennifer Gibson, Shalee Kelly, Hannah Kelly, Erica Gibson, Rebecca Gibson Hughes, Constance Gibson, Elorah Gibson, and Sophia Holyfield; 16 great-grandchildren, Rylan Cabral, Kaiya Gibson, Briella Wade, Lainey Wade, David Trammel, Hunter Trammel, Eleanor Gibson, Eden Gibson, Makayla Pruitt, Bella Pruitt, Natalie Pruitt, Olivia Pruitt, Ava Pruitt, Paisley Pruitt, Nevaeh Pruitt, and Cameron Burrell.

A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, 901 Aiken Rd., Asheville, NC, 28804, conducted by Pastor Frank Cantrell.
