Penny Lynn (Morris) Casey

Penny Lynn Morris Casey, age 69, of Rockwell, NC,  passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Center in Black Mountain, NC.

Mrs. Casey was born on November 14, 1951 in Johnson City, TN, to the late Paul Vernon Morris and Dorothy Merritt Morris.

Penny lived in Salisbury, NC before she moved to the mountains, and had worked in the payroll department at Security Bank. She also worked at RHA and loved helping the handicapped adults there. Penny earned her doctorate in Theology at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. She was a member of Sloan Lake Community Church in China Grove and also loved teaching children’s Sunday school.

Penny was a very beautiful, loving and caring person. She was a wonderful wife, sister, mother and grandmother. She adored her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed riding her horse “Buddy” at Love Valley, and crocheting.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Wayne Casey and her son Bryant Chase Evan Casey.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son Chad Athey and his wife Aimee of Rockwell, NC; two step-sons, Ricky Casey and his wife Amanda of Paulie’s Island, SC and Mike Casey of Kannapolis; a brother, Ricky Thomas Morris of Georgia; six grandchildren, Sawyer and Shakia Smallwood, both of Rockwell, Amber Ortiz and her husband Adam, Sr. of Harrisburg, NC, Kaley Brooke Casey, of Salisbury, Jessica Casey of Kannapolis, and Taylor Casey of Albemarle; and four great-grandchildren, Kevin and Candace Wyatt and Adam and Andrew Ortiz, all of Harrisburg.

A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, June 21, 2021 at 11:00 am At Brookhill Memorial Gardens, 8625 US Hwy 52, Rockwell, NC, with Pastor John David Keller officiating.
