Perry Leon Rice, age 96, of Swannanoa, NC went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 24, 2025 at Mountain Ridge Health and Rehab in Black Mountain, NC.
Perry was born on February 28, 1929 to the late Joseph Burgin Rice and Lillius Ida Wood Rice. He owned and operated Rice's Towing and was a long time volunteer with the Swannanoa Fire Department. Perry was a faithful member of Meadowbrook Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Perry was preceded in death by his wife Maxine Rice; son, Randy Rice; sister Evelyn Brank and brothers, J.B. Rice, William (Bud) Rice and James Rice; nephew Gary Burris; niece Annette Adkins. Those left behind to cherish are his nieces, Jamie Owens, Roberta (Bobbie) Stanley, Sandra Rice and Margaret Rice; nephews Johnny Rice, Michael Rice, Joe Burris.
A funeral service will be held on April 1, 2025 at Meadowbrook Free Will Baptist Church, 204 Blue Ridge Road, Black Mountain, NC 28711 at 1 PM with a visitation 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will take place at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 962 Old US HWY 70, Black Mountain, NC 28711 at 2 PM with Military honors rendered. Reverend Daryl Grimes and Reverend Randy Stone will be officiating.
