Randall Glenn Mackey

Randall Glenn Mackey, age 64, of Fletcher, NC, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville, NC.

Randall was born on June 29, 1958, in Buncombe County to the late Donald Glenn Mackey and Patsy Burns Mackey. He was a 1976 graduate of A.C. Reynolds High School in Asheville, NC.

 He served his country proudly in the United States Army as a calibration specialist from 1978 to 1982 and was awarded the Expert Badge with M-16 Rifle Award, Marksmanship Badge with Hand Grenade Award, Good Conduct Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon and Army Service Ribbon. 

Randall worked at Day International in Arden, NC. He was a wonderful son, brother, and uncle. He was a quiet and humble man who enjoyed watching old television shows and movies.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sister, Valerie (Marty) McDonald of Fairview, NC; two nieces, Holly Lance (Mike) Queen of Fletcher, NC and Rebecca (Clare) Gowan of Asheville, NC; and a host of other relatives.

No services are planned at this time.  Randall will be laid to rest at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC at a later date, with full military honors provided by the North Carolina National Guard Honor Guard.
