Randy Burgess Obituary

Heaven gained another angel, Randy Burgess, on Sunday, November 7, 2021. He was 61 and lived in Asheville. He was born on December 13, 1959 in Waynesville (Haywood County) to the late Betty Burgess who passed away only a week before him. Randy worked as a luthier and attended Jonestown Freewill Baptist Church in Woodfin. He had a passion for music and was a very talented musician with a beautiful singing voice; taught music lessons and loved singing with his wife at church. Randy had the biggest heart and his laugh and love will live on in the lives he has touched over the years. He was a great example of Christ and showed that love in everything he did. Randy would help you in a heartbeat. He was known for giving you a big hug and making sure he told you he loved you.

Those left behind to cherish Randy's memory are his beloved wife Vicki Metcalf Burgess of Asheville; his brother, Ronnie Burgess and his wife, Tracy of Candler; and his two nieces, Paxtyn Burgess of Candler and his namesake, Randi Burgess of Haywood County.

A memorial service will be announced sometime in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) at www.nami.org/About-NAMI/Donate-to-NAMI.
