Ricky Ray Ammons 70 of Black Mountain passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday February 25th, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.

A lifelong resident of Black Mountain, Rick had a deep love for these mountains he’s called home since birth, he had a fondness for being outdoors in nature, and an abiding love for music. He was an honorable and devoted family man whose presence brought strength, laughter, love, and a kindness that will be remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of over 34 years, Lynn; their daughters, Beverly McKee of Swannanoa and Angel Morris (Joe) of Ridgecrest; and the light of his life, his two beautiful granddaughters, Kendall McFalls of Ridgecrest and Taylor McKee of Swannanoa.

Rick also leaves behind his God children: Brandon Dunn (Lauren) of Marion, Jessica McKelvey (Chris) of Inman, Sarah Bartlett (Austin) of Mooresboro, and Isreal Bartlett (Jen) of Mooresboro, along with a slew of bonus grandchildren — Ceaira, Destiny, Gracie, Caleb, Landon, Xander, Asher, Andra, Bayleigh, Chase, Aspen, and Isreal.

He is also survived by his siblings, Bobby, Theresa, Melanie, and Brenda as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Marvie Dean, and siblings Betty Jean, Ralph, and Michael.
