Robert Henry Henderson

Robert Henry Henderson, age 92, had a glorious reunion in Heaven with his Saviour Jesus and his wife, Doris, on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.

Robert was born on March 9, 1931 in Buncombe Co., NC to the late Henry Clay Henderson and Della Duncan Henderson.

He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Greenville, SC and was retired from his job in the maintenance department at Nicca USA. Robert served his country proudly for 20 years in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and he served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War.

Robert was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He became a cattle farmer after he retired from the military. He loved animals and at one time he served as President of the SPCA in Buncombe County.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Leila Doris Solesby Henderson; a granddaughter, Ashley Parker; two grandsons, Christian Henderson and Bobby Henderson, III; and a sister, Concella Wilson.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Ann Parker of Greensboro, NC and Pam Henderson of Gastonia, NC; three sons, Bobby Henderson, Jr, Chester L. Henderson, and Brad Henderson, all of Belton, SC; a sister, Pat Johnson, of Mars Hill, NC; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

A Graveside Service with military honors will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 962 Old US Hwy 70, Black Mountain, NC 28711, officiated by his grandson, Pastor Jeremiah Parker.
