Robert Neal McKinney

Robert “Goose” Neal McKinney, age 82 of Swannanoa, NC, went to be with the Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of Monday, August 11, 2025, peacefully in his sleep at his daughter’s home in Morganton, NC.

Robert was born on June 25, 1943, to the late Gurney McKinney and Edith Parker McKinney. Robert was a member of Cedar Mountain Baptist Church in Fairview, NC. He retired from the Eaton Corporation in Arden, NC. He loved his church and playing golf a lot!

Robert loved his family and loved being around his grandkids. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia McKinney, and his daughter, Tamara Michelle Grant.

Robert is survived by his daughter Tiffany (Jimmy) McMahan of Morganton, NC; grandchildren Jake (Vanna) Harwood, Laken (Oussema) Harwood, Andrea Grant, and Cheyanne Grant of Swannanoa; great-grandchildren Micah Harwood, Jake Harwood Jr., Victoria Knupp, Penelope Knupp, Ellorie Knupp, and Isla Ben Salha.

Anyone who knew Robert knew he always had a smiling face and never met a stranger. He was a good Christian man and would help anyone he could.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
